Whats the big difference for me between both.
There are so called Filmmakers, then there are Videos and Movies.
I never quite got the hang of it. Sure Filmmaker just sound cool. The Maker of Films. WOW.
But sure there has to be some measurement to distinguish one for the other.
What makes a Video a Movie for me:
- B-Roll
- You cut in between, show additional content
- Music
- You insert Background Music (when necessary)
- Story
- You actually tell a Story, you have a message you want to bring across.
The rest is mostly up for discussion. Which for is all open. Vlog can be a movie, you have a character, cutting in between to tell a story.

We live now in an age where it is super easy, to create and capture and distribute content. Just 30 years ago, photography was a niche thing, never the less video. To capture moving images you had huge cameras, with mostly shitty quality. Editing was a pain in the ass and no one really had access. So it mostly stayed at homevideo level.
Now its easy, you hit record and instantly share it with others.
So with more and more moving image content coming up, is everybody a filmmaker? Hm I dont think so. Everybody CAN be. But not everybody is, just like you are not a doctor just having a white robe and a thermostate with you. Like you are not a hairdresser cause you can hold a scissor.

What also makes for a movie:
Credits, and Title.
